Assistance For Pets After Harvey

In the wake of Harvey, Special Pals Animal Shelter in Katy is offering several services for animals and their families after the storm.

Special Pals is located at 3830 Greenhouse Road, Houston TX 77084. The shelter is open Tuesday thru Thursday 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Friday 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and Saturday and Sunday 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

If you need food or supplies for your animals, please stop by Special Pals during open hours. The Katy community has been unbelievably generous and Special Pals has plenty of pet food, bedding, and other supplies to share to those in need.

Special Pals has space to board dogs that need temporary housing while their families recover from damages caused by Harvey. Please email Special Pals or stop by the shelter to get more information about emergency relief boarding for dogs.

Since the storm began, Special Pals has taken in about 25 animals that did not have microchips or ID tags. Special Pals is committed to keeping these guys close by to make it easier for families to reunite. If you are missing your family member, please come see if they may be at the shelter.

The folks at Katy, TX Lost and Found Pets are working around the clock to post photos of lost and found pets to their Facebook page.

Best Friends Animal Society, a national no-kill organization, has partnered with Austin Pets Alive and several local organizations to set up a mobile command center at Montgomery County Fair Grounds. They have reunited hundreds of animals with their families, and volunteers are caring for more at the fair grounds. Visit the Best Friends Animal Society website for more information.
